As someone that has both, as long as the one you buy is still under the factory warranty, go for it if it's what you really want. I'd never have an M without warranty, and so as soon as this one gets close to its end you'll see it traded in for the F30 model.
They don't have the same niche markets. It's way heavier, it's way more on gas, etc. Even still, it's a lot faster in most situations you'll encounter most of the time you're driving it. Once you get one though, it'll seem like everybody and their sister's mother-in-law has one too lol. Good luck.
