I had a local shop make me an enclosure that wasn't what I had described to the guy (Regional Mngr) who took my order. Since I couldn't get my money back, and I didn't want to risk getting another bad enclosure, I applied my credit towards a Stealthbox (SB). When he told me that their price was $579, I accused him of screwing me on the SB price to make-up for the custom-made enclosure that I was returning. I had even called his store before for a SB price, and they told me that they didn't give prices over the phone, but that their price was much less than list. I don't think that anyone would consider $20 off of $599 "much less". Anyway, I just wanted to get my money out of that place (leaving w/ a quality-made product), so I placed the order, and the SB is on it's way. I immediately went to another one of their locations, and was given the same price. I called another JL dealer, and they said $564, which is better, but still not much.

So what's the deal? Is there not that much of a mark-up on these things? Or am I just getting bad deals, here in San Antonio? Over in the group buy area, people are saying that they can get non-GB Stealthboxes for over $100 less that what I'm paying. I went into that store w/ the number $450 in my head, which is why I lost it when he said $579. What prices have you been quoted?

So far, I'm planning on apologizing to this guy for the accusations that I made. All I can accuse him of is having a bad price on the SB. But I'm still curious as to what other people are paying for authorized-dealer-bought SBs.

When I first got my S2K I want to a JL dealer and was quoted $575 for the box with a JL 10W0

I asked if that was his best price - and he told me that he could offer a discount if I put cash on the counter.

Honestly - the guy was a total ass and would not give me a real price unless I started putting c-notes on his counter.

I do not think this is a JL business method, just that there are some unprofessional people out there.

Is the 10W0 better than the 10W3v2-D6?? cuz that is the one it comes with right??

What do they have to do when installing it??

I don't believe that that is installed. First of all, I don't want them to install it. I told them to keep it in the box, and they said, "fine." Also, my receipt doesn't say anything about labor.

yeah if you check the JL ahead of the Curve site it says it comes with a 10W3.

is that sub any good??

The place I went must have been selling Stealthboxes and replacing the 10W3's with ZERO's and reselling them for added profit!

If you check out their official website it says the 10W3 comes with it....i would talk to your dealer and ask them why they didnt give you the right sub~!
