Default 01 stock headunit help

I've had this car for about a week and yesterday while on the highway the radio made a pop noise then shut off. I figured I blew a fuse and carried on my way. Once I got to my destination I hopped out and checked my fuse. Fuse was fine, but I replaced it with a new one regardless and still nothing.

I still get the amber lights on the headunit coming on, and the security light flashes but I don't actually get power. The LCD display is blank and wont light up so I tried pushing the volume/power button and nothing, I've tried entering my radio code and nothing. I plugged in an AP2 headunit in it today and still no success.

I need to find my volt meter in the garage and start testing wires, but I was hoping someone else may have some insight as to what might be going on?

There are actually two fuses for the headunit in the underdash fuse box -
#9 & #22 - check them both.

What fuses are you referring to? The manual has the radio as #19 and #22 is the power mirrors fuse.

does the power port work (where you plug your cell phone in) i thought they share the same fuse? check that one and change it if its blown - then your radio should work

[QUOTE=PokS2k,Aug 12 2002, 03:28 PM]I plugged in an air pump into the acc. outlet.

I would have never thought of that, but I'll give it a go when I get home tonight.

The fuse checks out okay, but the accesory port also does not work.

are you saying the fuse for the ACC port is still good BUT the port (and hence the radio) it's not working

if that's the case you'll need to figure that out so that your radio works as they are on the same circuit - could have lost a ground to the acc port

I had my brother check it out as he's working from home today. He just did a visual check. When I get home I'll pop a new fuse in and see how it goes, hopefully its just a fuse.

Checked everything out myself when I got home from work and the 10amp accessory fuse was popped, replaced it and I'm back to having a radio again.
