03' Stock Speaker??
Is it true that the 03' stock speakers are made by Alpine?? After i put in a Alpine CDA 7998 deck and JL Audio 300/4 amp and a custom sub box with JL 10w3 subwoofer, the stock speaker just sound so much better!! I turn the gain down on the amp, to prevent the stock speaker being blown!! When they do get blown, i will replace them with Boston Acoustic pro series 6.5" comp!! I think the reason why people complain about the stock speaker sounding weak is that they are under power from the stock deck!! I think for about $500 to $700 for a complete system you could make that stock speaker sound so much much better!! I truely think our 03' stock speaker are pretty decent. So far my system cost me $1600, most of the cost goes to the alpine deck($700). I think it goes for $550 on the internet, but i don't want to deal with the hassle of shipping in case if there is a problem with the unit!! This is one sweet.... deck!! If you got the money, this is the deck to get!! This system sound so much better than my friends $3000 system!!
NO. Just because they are blue, doesnt mean they are alpine. Alpine does make certain things for honda, (HU's and Navi). The reason why your system sounds better is because of the HU. Good Luck!
#1 Rule...garbage in......garbage out......the HU is what processes, decodes, and sends out a signal to the amp/speaker. So if the original signal sucks, then the amp will just amplify crap, and your $3000 speakers will produce crap in crystal clear quality. Get my drift. Remember, your new HU is an amp....and the SQ is much better than the stock honda radio.
Well, the GIGO philosophy holds very true. However, there is a point of diminishing returns. The hardware required to decode CD audio is pretty cheap and redily available. Better than average ones are worth paying for, but IMHO $700 for a HU plus and amp is overkill. Unless it has other features that make the price justifiable, it seems like overkill to me.
