Default '06 and newer seats

Anyone knows what is under the seats of the '06 and newer S2ks and whether it can be eliminated or has to be present all the time?

Just a little background info, my seats were stolen last week and the harness on the passenger side cut off. After doing some research someone told me there is a computer on that side.

I am thinking about going aftermarket, as my insurance wants to install used seats. Will I need to buy the computer that goes under the passenger seat or can I run it without it?

Thanks,

J

I don't know about the S2000, but I recently removed my passenger seat in my 05 Xterra. It also has a passenger SRS sensor built into the seat. If the battery is connected with the seat removed (or the sensor disconnected), the SRS system will fault. I don't know if this is true, but I have been told the entire SRS system will not function when it experiences a fault. Even if it may not be true, I'd prefer not to take that chance.

My MY02 has the alarm control box under there. When they stole my seats and cut it out the insurance gave me loot for a SRS unit, even though it was an alarm unit. I think the newer cars have a little sensor, peep this pic
