Does anyone have any experience with the new 1-DIN in dash navigation/receiver systems? I think this is the ideal head unit for our car. I'm most interested in the system that Blaupunkt has. Its called the TravelPilot ( I can't find the link, but I'll post it soon ). http://www.blaupunktusa.com/travelpilot/tr...ilot_index.html
This system would replace our current head unit. There is a larger then normal display so that you can see a bit of a map and arrows telling you which way to turn. But most of the directions are spoken.
The unit is pricey, approx $1,5000. But you get a high quality receiver and navigation built in.
So my question is does anyone have any experience with 1-DIN navigation units?

I have found that those small NAV display systems leave a lot to be desired as far as information legibility (especially while driving)... That's why I went with the Alpine IVA-C800 with flip out monitor... because legibility is exquisite (but you have to cut a new hole in the dash )
Just my opinion...

How does the big screen look with the top down? I figured the sun would be took much to actually look at the screen.
Does anyone know what brand the BMW z8 uses. I remember the one I saw had a 1-Din navigation unit.

It's definitely hard to see the lcd with the top down and the sun shining on the screen... I was thinking of making a custom antiglare screen like from a PC...

OK, I'm getting serious about buying one of these. The BLAUPUNKT unit really seems to be the right one to get.
The best price I've found is $800 plust $150 for the map CD-ROM.
I'm looking to buy one soon. I can't find too many places on the web that sell this unit. Anyone know of discount shops that carry BLAUPUNKT equipment?
