Default 12" or 15" sub

Need help...the 12's that I keep getting keep busting for some reason. Is there anyone that knows where I can get a box for a 15" sub made that would fit in the toolwell, don't care if it sticks out above the rest of the trunk.

Or, alternately, if someone knows of a good 12" sub that can handle the amp and would fit in some of the 12" boxes that are available.

These last subs I've been using are just in a box that I modified to fit in the trunk, and one of them blew, other one is still working, but not at the full potential of the amp.

Amp is a a1500hct. Originally I thought it was a 1500 watt amp, just looked around and couldn't find definite information on it. Looks like 2000 at 1 ohm.

Subs are a1208t. Got both of them of them at the same time, don't know why one busted.

I have two sets of wires coming out of the amp from the positive and negative, one set (a positive and a negative), goes to each speaker.

no opinions??

Amp it says is rated at 2000x1 at 1 ohm, don't know much about how the ohms work.

Any info would be appreciated!!

15" is too big for this car I think. You wouldn't be able to build a box big enough to get the proper sound (I think it has to do with air circulation, EJ's please correct me if I am wrong). If you're not building a competition level system, have you thought about a 10", or 2 8"s in the footwells of the trunk?

I don't want speakers that small because I like my bass to really shake, plus I already have the amp all wired and installed and don't think they would be able to handle it.

My old system in my civic wasn't what I would call competition level, but, as my brother said "it feels like my brain was shaking" and it could set off car alarms.

Just trying to get it almost to that level, or that level again if possible.

Of course that was a different car and that was with the backseat down, so the speakers are right there.

Back to the 15", I think it would be possible, the sub I was looking at could handle 2250 RMS, and I believe only required 1.3 cu ft of air, for a ported enclosure.

Sooo if someone could building a box like
****___
___/****\___
***|****|
***\****/

*ignore the asterisks, just there for spacing*

where the horizontal lines are the trunk, the box is angled to add some volume, with some supports thrown in to support the subs weight, and the trunk was either glassed in, (i dont know how to fiberglass) or covered in dynamat or some spray on sound deadener (don't know how that would affect the sub or sound quality, but should at least seal the bottom so the sound wouldn't leak out.

Just how I picture the ideal system that won't freakin bust subs and not a ton of fiberglass work, as I don't know how, nor really have the time to learn, fiberglassing skills.

Any opinions on that??

I have a 1 Treo TSX 12" subs and I run a continuous 900 watts RMS through it and 1800 watts peak. Not one problem and it hits EVERY beat flawlessly. The most amazing sub I've honestly ever heard. I have one for sale as a matter of fact, paid $250 for it and used it for a month (then bought the S and can only use one). Has just sat in my garage. If you're actually interested let me know. I'll let it for for $150 shipped.

with Darkknight. A properly tuned (and DECENT SUB) 10" should sound MORE than enough. I cannot put my G5 any higher that +7 (out of +15) on my HU, or it overpowers everyother tone and shakes the HELL outta everything! I am only running 440rms to it!

Based on your wiring description, you are not bridging the amp, so you are not getting the FULL 2000rms. It also REALLY depends on how you wire it up as to the output you will get. For MAX power, get a DVC 2-ohm sub (that can handle the power), and wire the voicecoils in parallel (amp positive to sub positive, other sub positive to sub negative, then other sub negative to OTHER amp negative....there should only be 2 speaker wires running from the amp to the speaker).

If you are a fan of BOOMY bass, I would recommend either a 10w7 from JL (they are known for their boomy sound, because of the cone shape).

haven't heard any systems in S', just know mine isn't how I want it yet.

S2k:-) ---Don't think that 12 would be strong enough, 2000 is RMS, not peak, what ohm is the sub though?

I think boomy may have been the incorrect term, I just like lots of bass.

Dual voice coil 2 ohm and if you heard it you would know 800rms from this sub was plenty. Buy it and if you don't like it I'll pay you to ship it back to me. I also now make boxes for the S, so if you need one of those just let me know. $100+shipping and if you want pics just let me know and I'll PM you.
