Default 2002 speaker dilema?

Went to Circut City to put in a pair of Polk ex 602s. The installer calls me in after puting one in and tells me that there does not seem to be an improvement. I listened and agreed. The stock speaker in 2002 is polymer not paper! The manger suggested a new head unit or amp with new speakers. Any comments or suggestions? Still not happy with the sound.

Add rears 1st then decide on changing the entire system.

i dont think tweeters will make too much of a difference.
better listen to Lucid and go with the rears first.

I put in Lucid's rear panels with polk EX340's. They add clarity and dimension to the overall sound and take some load off the stock fronts for the same volume. I don't think I'm going to change out my stock 2002's yet. After I installed the rears, I noticed that the fronts sound fine already. BTW, I concur with Lucid's recommendation for adding rears first. With the rears, the system sounds much improved for the money.

To really make a big difference in the S2000's sound I think you'd have to do some serious mods--amp, head unit, sub (the passenger footwell's a good place for one), deeper door speakers (you'll have to cut the basket), dynamat, etc. A lot of work, and since I like to install things myself, a lot of time.

Somewhat off topic, the radio reception in the S2K could be better. I noticed the same thing in our 2001 Civic EX, too. I had a Camry coupe that had much stronger reception of the same stations in the same areas. Oh well.

Get Lucid's rear speakers. It's a great way to beef up the stock system without spending an arm & a leg or spending a ton of time. It really does sound better, we are happy with our new Polks in the front and rear.

most people who upgraded '02 speakers notice huge difference immediately. i too have an '02 and my infinity speakers definitely made music sound more clean and crisp. the '02 stock speakers are not bad, but dont sound as clean as many after market ones. i suggest you to listen to some different upgraded systems from other s owners before you throw more money into this thing.

Just received our rear speaker panel kit with GXS240 Tsunami speakers from Lucid for our 2001. Can't wait to put them in this weekend.

The people at Lucid shipped our order the same day they received it, and they came with excellent installation instructions. The panels/speakers were packed carefully and they even noted that the units were test fitted.

Also ordered the newer 2002 door speakers at the same time from H and A, with the same results.

I'm surprised and very pleased that on Friday Dec 21st both companies received and shipped our orders out the same day.

Thanks guys for making our Holidays sound better

I have installed Boston 4" rear speakers and they sound great.
Make the sound more clear and fuller!
Definitely try rear speaker first.
