Default 2002 tweeters

has anyone replaced the stock front speakers, but retained the stock tweeters? would this work, or which tweeters will fit behind the stock
tweeter covers?

cheers

Yes, i have temporarily replaced the stock speakers with a set of Sony speakers i am borrowing and left the stock tweeters in place...sounds much better than straight stock, but i plan on upgrading to some MBQuart components soon, just wanted to play with them to see if it made much difference..

I put Kenwood 3ways in the doors and left the factory tweeters in and they still work just fine. I think they might even sound a little better for some reason. I also put kenwood 2ways in back and have the stock head unit.

I installed a set of Cerwin Vega seperates. Left side first. I don't notice a big diference using the stock head unit. It was kinda of a waste of time. Unless you add rear speakers and dump the crappy stock head unit, you probably won't notice any diference driving 60 with the top down. Just my 2 cents worth.

if you're replacing the speakers, it only makes sense to replace the tweeters as well. I have the focal TN45 which is 45mm (1-3/4") and fits perfectly. I don't believe that you can fit anything bigger than 45mm so just look for a tweeter within this range.

The factory tweeter has a built in capacitor for frequency cut off. You dont need to worry about it.

Just received my Kenwoods from Lucid for both the front and rear. Will install soon and will leave the stock tweeters in place. I can't wait to hear how this will sound. Sounds like a lot of you have done this same set up with the Kenwoods and the stock HU. How's it sound?

Hey,
Just upgraded my 2002 system. I installed Infinity 605CS component system.

They sound great. The factory tweeters are terrible! One of the bigest changes was the new infinity tweeters. They make more of a difference in what you hear than the other parts.

If you want a great tweeter, try these. The fit with space to spare.

I was talking to a stereo guy today, (with 14 years install experience), and he said that the Infinity tweeters had a reputation for blowing out way too often. He wasn't trying to push something he sells and in fact said the Honda tweeters were not bad. Anyone else ever hear this?

He did recommended a replacement of the 2 way in the door.
