Installed the rear Kenwood 5.25 speaker system from Lucid a week ago, and now received the Kenwood door 6.5 speakers and installed them on Friday. Wow, what a difference. Not thumpin and bumpin like the high end systems or competition grade, but a whole lot better than it used to be. This is all I will ever need. I am very happy with this setup. Didn't replace the stock 2002 door tweeters. I don't think they need it. Maybe one day, but not right now.

Digvball,

With just the rear speaker addition and without the front door upgrade, what did you think? Were the door speaker replacements really what made your system sound better or was most of the improvement just adding the rears? (I have the rears waiting to go in.)

Thanks

Jet,
I would recommend the front door speakers also. They really round out the system. Bad news for me now is that I just drove down to houston from Wisconsin and had my car broken into. They left the speakers, but took the seats and shifter knob. Took nothing else. So my car is in the shop getting new seats as I write this along with a new soft top. They broke in through the convertable top.

I'm really sorry to hear about the damage to your car. That sucks. Were you parked in a hotel parking lot?

Thanks for the speaker info. I can't tell if my 2 ways in the door are distorting due to being very cheap speakers or if the head unit is just too weak. It sounds like from what you said that the speakers are the first problem and could sound better even with the oem head unit. My rears are now in and sound very good.

Sorry Houston treated you so badly.
