I'm looking to upgrade our stock S2k's sound with the following, any pros or cons?

Alpine 9857 H/U
Alpine 150x2 Amp
Boston Acoustics Pro 60's

Check this out...I think I'm going this route. If I can get Sound Advice to swap the two pairs of coax's for a component set.

I think that package comes in a box of its own... I'm not positive though, but I thought that's what they said.
If it does come in a package box you'll be hard pressed to get them to swap them out. I doubt they would swap them anyway because of the cost difference... but you never know

That's a nice HU but I wouldn't use the rest of it myself. There are much nicer products on the market. But it is good for the price.

True, We're including the DCI and iPod interface cable as well. It should be a good starting point. The amp is PDX-2.150 and the size is small enough to fit in the tool well. I'll post pics of the install as it happens. If we decide to go with a sub then we can just stack another amp on top this this one.

Here's the link to the amp

That sounds like you will be more than halfway done (you will need a 12'' JL W3 sub, along with a JL 250/1 amp) trust me, it will sound awesome!!!

Sounds good to me. My only advice would be that you get a 150x4 amp, in case you ever decide you want a sub....this way, its just plug and play.

That was kind of our intended approach. See what this does and go from that point forward. I'm looking for great sound, top up or down, without adding to much weight.
I've not heard the pro 60's in a car so it tough to get a feel what they will sound like in the open. I'm sure I'm going to lose plenty with the top down, but I should have plenty of power to compensate @ 150w/ch driving the mains.

Anyone have any ball park data on weight of a sub system?

Hello,
order the original alpine remote control interface KCE-865B .

It has a honda connector on one side and alpine on the other. Plug and play !

your OEM steering wheel remote control will be available with your new ALPINE headunit.

good luck.

ps
Check also my forum post "GPS radio and speakers improvement ".
I also installed the alpine ipod interface.
