Default 2x8" or 1x10" sub?

Looking for an educated opinion regarding subwoofers in the trunk. Looking to upgrade in the next few months from the stock sound system. I've spent a good amount of time perusing the excellent information in the forum. One question I have is whether or a not a single 10" sub is a) sufficient in the trunk or if b) two 8" subs will provide a better/fuller sound with as much or more 'kick.' I'm not looking for competition but enough to shake me a bit in the seat at high speeds. I've been drawn to this box/boxes: http://www.s2carbonworks.com/00s2cufisisu.html

...and planning on the Pioneer shallow mount sub(s).

Thanks for your time!

Cheers,
Guapo

I run a 10 pioneer shallow sub in a stealthbox type enclosure and at speed it's hardly audible esp with the top down. I dont know if those boxes you posted would make a difference but I shoulda just gone with a 12inch.

btw, I'm powering the 10inch shallow sub with a JL Audio 500/1 amp

I really like the enclosures you are looking at, but ultimately decided to stay away from the trunk since the 10" I test fitted in there seemed to make everything rattle. I picked up a 10" shallow sub in a footwell enclosure from 2big4aS2000 here and couldn't be happier with the clarity, volume, and balance. I highly recommend it!

Dude, I still have that stupid shallow 8" Pioneer sub from when I was planning to do this myself and now it's just sitting on my shelf! Not sure what I'm going to do what that now...

Aphex4000 -

I took a look at that thread, it's an impressive setup. For the most part I drive solo or with my wife who's wicked short (5'2").

My question is on the install - how invasive is/was it to put in? Simply peeling back the carpet or did it require 'digging out' space for the sub?

Your post says the sounds good and balanced...does it have enough 'kick' to vibrate me in my seat? Not that I ALWAYS want that but every now and then....

Thanks for the info - would love to see more pics of it installed.

Cheers,
Guapo

Guapo, the installation was very straightforward. I had to remove the door sill and kick panel, then pull up the carpet. The hardest part was removing the foam block glued to the back of the carpet. Honda attached it with a very generous amount of hot glue so you can really do some damage to the carpet (as I did) if you're not patient. Aside from these steps, there isn't really any "digging" that needs to be done. As for kick, the bass can definitely be felt if I turn up the gain beyond what I'm comfortable with!

I'll try to get more photos if I can ever leave the office at a decent hour. My gf tracked in a bunch of dirt and grass so I need to get the floormat out for a good vacuuming anyways.

Sorry for the wait! I usually get home after the sun goes down during the week so I didn't get a chance to take photos with decent lighting until this aftenoon. Here they are!

The first two photos are to show legroom for someone's that 5' 11". You can see my thighs are nearly horizontal in the second photo so they're still fully supported by the seats. Unfortunately, I don't think I would be as comfortable with shoes on.

A few shots without me in getting in the way...

One final shot with the sub covered nicely with a floormat.
