i would re wire it so the accessory on is the signal wire to a relay and then run wire directly from the battery. that way all accessories are only "ignition on" to run and wont ruin the batt down in the event you forget to turn something off one day.

also if you are running a 15 amp and say the detector actually uses a 10A, you could fry it easily.
