6 1/2" speaker recommendation
I have the CDT HD62EF 6.5" speakers installed in my stock front locations....had to shim them out for clearance though with custom made rings I fashioned from 3/4" plywood.
They sound very clear and bright even at highway speeds ....(and above....)
I also have the Image Enhancing tweeters installed in my "A" pillars.

I was in similar situation as you. Wanted great sound up front but not too anxious to cut up my doors. I installed Clarion SR 1624 (6.5" separates) into existing speaker locations and added an Alpine MRP-F200 amplifier (40W x 4, 100W x 2 bridged). I was never happy with the speakers - harsh tweeter and anemic mid-bass driver. I put more power to them with a Kenwood KAC 7251 (150W x 2) amp. Better but not enough.
After much research I bought Polk MOMO (MM6) speakers (6.75" separates) - thinking I could modify the mounting to the door. No go without big modifications. Speakers have HUGE magnets and depth intereferes with window. Spacers push speaker too far out which interfere with door panel. I was left with option of buying better fitting (though less beefy) speakers or start serious cutting.
I blinked and bought my now THIRD set of speakers that DO fit the existing door structure AND sound great - POLK db6500 model. They dropped right in, handle 100W and really fill in the soundstage up front. Competitors like Infinity and high end Kenwood are probably good too but I am becoming a fan of Polk products. Next step up would be Focal or MB Quart speakers and don't know about fit with these.
Incidentally , I am running a separate Kenwood KAC 7251 amp to a pair of Polk 10" subwoofers (GNX10) put in self-constructed sealed wood box in trunk well. I am still tuning the system but it is 95% there and great for rock and progressive jazz.
Tips:
- the S2000 interior is an acoustic nightmare and noisy. Do your research and buy the best speakers your budget will allow. Know how much you are willing to modify. Don't skimp.
- put as much clean power from a reputable amplifier manufacturer in your S2000 as you can afford. Match power output with capability of speakers. Get ready to run BIG power cables to amp (think 4-8 gauge).
- are you getting a new head unit? I am happy with my JVC KD-LH3150: front/rear/sub 4v pre-amp outputs, separate input for mp3 player (iPod for me), seven band EQ. In general you will have cleaner sound if you replace stock unit.
- be wary of stereo shops pushing one brand. I think I was suckered into my original Clarions.
- when you have your wish list, go to the internet. I had great service from SoundDomain, EZOrderUsa and Crutchfield. Prices are about half of stereo shops. (Assuming you will do the install)
- learn from my mistakes and avoid the stereo graveyard I have amassed in my workshop.
Hope this is helpful!

Can you post pics of your component set up or explain where you mounted the tweeters?
Also, are you running an amp to them?
And where to buy? I've heard good things about Boston but rarely do I see them in shops.
I went to circuit city and BBuy over the weekend but was dissappointed.
They had a couple pairs which sounded ok...at best.
I'm almost ready to:

I heard some Boston Acustic components today. The wall price was $220!
That's awesome. I am going to back there tomorrow and see if I can negotiate him down a little. If I can get them for $200, they are MINE. (And will be in this weekend!

I don't think it's the pro series. They are FS60s.
I have the mids and tweets mounted already (man, the tweets were a PITA!!!!!) A simple 3/4" spacer for the mids worked great.
I am taking a break before I tackle the x-overs. Once I get those hooked up and mounted, I should be all set.
