I'm trying to decide what sub to use with the wlaurent enclosures. I can't find anywhere to listen to both so I can only go on what I've been told - i.e. JLs are cleaner and tighter, but cost more (and may not be as reliable?). I can get either the Rockford HE2 or JL 8W3v2 for roughly the same price. What would you do?

I have a JL Audio Microsub with a JL Audio 8. Sounds awesome to me.

JL all the way from W3 and up... there are better subs out there than there w0's though. and RF just plain sucks IMHO too many problems with their shoddy products.

I have used both and sold Rockford equipment for quite some time. The JL's are great speakers (sound quality, reliability, etc..), but so are the Rockfords HE, HE2, HX2, and Power Series subs and amplifiers (can't say much for their HU's though).

OK - yes I am defending the products I sell, however, I do not think anyone should buy Rockford if they are more comfortable with another brand such JL, Cadence, Polk, Boston, etc.. This is why the enclosures are offered without subs.

I had some bad luck with some SONY equipment I sold many years back. It put a bad taste in my mouth and it took me quite a few years to go back to buying (for personal use) and selling SONY.

I am sure there is someone out there that had a bad Cadence experience, or a bad JL experience, etc.. Once you experience the negative side of a companies products (or more importantly their customer support system) - it takes a while to get past it.
