Default 9855, ipod Problems

Alright so I have all the things you need for the 9855 to work with an Ipod. for the record the glide touch sucks. Now for the problem. I have an ipod photo(not video) and when i connect it and turn the car on SOMETIMES the Ipod will work other times it will say "searching" on the HU. When i look at the ipod when this is happening it it like this

If you need a bigger video I have one that i'll send to you but what do you think the issue is?
P.S. It's really frustrating to have to stop and start the car just for the Ipod. Plus it can't be good for the starter....

When you say you "have everything you need" to make the ipod work, I am going to assume you have a kca420i to go with your headunit.....

according to the manual,

[QUOTE]"as soon as Ipod is connected, power is automatically turned on as long as the vehicle's ignition is ON or in ACC mode.

Ok well i've tried Many things and i can't figure out whats the deal with it. I've narrowed it down to cold. When it's very cold below 32 degrees if that means anything(please tell me if you've been in that cold and it didn't affect you). I Leave the Ipod in the car until i turn the car on. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does the thing in the video. Any ideas? please help me I've tried everything. I'll answer any questions.

If you are leaving the iPod in the cold it very well could be your problem. Also if you leave it in the car for an extended period of time while it is attached it seems to discharge the battery (if the radio/car is not on). Once I got a similar message on my girlfriends. I unplugged it, plugged in headphones turned it on, turned it off with no headphones then reattached to the stereo connector and it worked just fine. No idea why that worked as it only happened once.

Try the following: do not leave attached to connector when not using the car, do not leave it in the cold, and try plugging in headphones and reattaching when it fails.

BTW, I have 9851 and kca420i.

Hope this helps1

The thing is i can get it to fail just by unplugging it and plugging it back in quickly. Same 'screen switching' problem. The longest i leave it is overnight. think it could be a defect?

I had an issue like this with my 9835 and kca420i... It would just flat out not recognize my ipod if it was too cold (overnight in glove box). My solution was - unplug the ipod, switch to radio, sit on the ipod for 5 minutes (one cheek is good, I preferred right because i am used to something there cuz thats where I keep my wallet), and plug it back in
