Default adding proximity sensor to existing alarm system.

Hi-

I purchased my car with an alarm as part of the "package". Anyway, it's a standard alarm with shock sensor. I would like to add a proximity sensor without having to purchase a new alarm system and was wondering if it was possible. I do not have the Honda OEM alarm, but rather a Magnadyne PL20. The Magnadyne website is pretty much useless, so I was wondering if anyone here might know if it's possible before I try to call the customer reps over at Magnadyne. Also, can I just add any sensor or would I have to stick with a Magnadyne maufactured one? Thanks in advance for the help. As you can tell, I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to this stuff. Slowly trying to become a DIY'er.

Thanks,
Sandy.

You should be able to use any prox sensor. The shop that did my alarm indicated they felt that DEI made the best sensors.

I believe they wired it in parallel with the shock sensor, and I believe you can do the same.

I like the location of my prox sensor under the armrest. Check out the link in my sig regarding the compustar alarm for more details and pictures.
