Default advice on speakers..

Considering 6.5" Focal components for the S. Not sure of the model, but the max watts handling is rated at 160. I was told by the installer taht these are the "new" MB Quartz...??? I've owned MBs before abd was very happy with them. Are these speakers recommended by the "sound gurus?" Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks!

As far as sound quality...what brand performs best for under 1K? Preferably, the better sound for the money...please, I dont have ANY sound now, and dont want to regret a purchase. Thanks guys!!

dynaudio has my vote at $750, only problem is they need some power behind them.

it depends what type of sound you enjoy listening to. as simple as can be, do you like metal which are bright, detailed, harsh and fatiguing or soft dome which are softer, less detailed, sweet and smooth and never fatiguing?

im going to guess metal since you enjoyed the mb quartz. yes, the mb q line now is basically the older mb q stuff and 1 new line produced by illusion audio.

i would imagine that you would like focal because of the metal tweeters, but if you ask me about focal and sound quality, they require a lot of tweaking to achieve any type of sound quality.

if you ask for my opinion of best SQ under $1k it would be the lotus reference.

they fit in pretty well too, no issues doing the install myself.
