Default AEM gauge wires are short

I recently purchased an AEM digital oil pressure gauge for 0 to 150 psi. The wire is to short to reach the location of the sensor on the front of the block. Has anyone ever extended the wires on thes gauges before? What size are the electrical wires for the harness/wires (18 AWG?) and will it effect the accuracy of the pressure readings by extending the wires due to increased resistence in the line or other things. I am not very electrically savy. Will it void the warranty on the gauge if I extend the original wires?

Also I heard from a friend you can call AEM and tell them the wires are too short and they will send you another one, gonna try that tomorrow since they are closed now.

The part number for product is AEM Part Number 30-4407

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yup I just finished an oil pressure gauge install on my S2K, I had to cut the aem harness and then extend the three wires into the cabin. Extending the wires doesn't affect the readings of the sensor. It isn't very hard to do, just buy extra spools of wire from an auto parts store along with the appropriate butt connectors, some good electrical tape, good wire crimp tool, and I got some plastic wire loom to cover and protec the aem wiring. If you can get aem to give you a longer harness that is great but it isn't too hard to extend it if you can't.

what size wire did you get 18 gauge, 20 gauge, etc. not sure what the right size is. Just want to make sure I dont use one thats are smaller gauge size since it will definitely increase the resistance in the wire.
