Default Affordable upgrade to stock stereo

I'm still giddy about owning an S, but I did a relatively inexpensive upgrade for those that care...Kept the factory head unit, but added Alpine MRP-220T 2-channel amp ($123.00, 50W x 2 RMS) and replaced the stock door speakers with Infinity Reference 6000Si ($79.00 special, 6.5" two-way) and it sounds great to me. Paid about $100 for wiring and install at a local shop. Now the bass is crisp and tight! Now my question is about the security system. I have the stock system on my2001. I don't even have a blinking red LED except on the radio. I was considering a Python 660xx (about $275 installed)...any suggestions?

In the trunk just to the driver's side of the spare. Very nice since it't hidden and doesn't take up any trunk room.

This is great info. Thanks! My 2005 is on order and I want to upgrade the stereo ASAP, but keep the stock hu. This info helps much.
