After market Alarm
Hey all,
I just bought the Avital 4400 2-way Security / Remote Start System for my S. My buddy worked for Circuit City as an Innstaller and he did this for several years. He is going to be doing this install for me. Does anyone have a list of wires(wiring diagrams) for the windows/doors, under steering column(ignition etc...) also the deconstruction of the factory alarm... or removal for that matter. I did a search and everything about alarms was "what kind should I get" I need to know the specifics... Can anyone help with some quality info!
Thanks in Advance,
WickedStylz

I don't normally fight back, but annoying little remarks...well...... annoy me. You are right he was an installer and he has installed alarms before and he is going to be doing mine but you think a Ford, a Chevy, a Honda, an Audi, a Toyota, etc... all use the same wiring scheme and in the same exact location in the car. I DON'T THINK SO! Everyone needs some sort of direction to start a project. You can just start connecting things together and hope something works...Hey you could give it a try. Go out get an Alarm. Stick it in your car with whatever means you speak of and maybe you will get lucky enough that the air bag blows and hits you in the head.. Might do some good...
Sorry S2K members... Just had to let certain ones know where they stand. NOt a traditional "me" thing to do, just had to on this one

seems as if you woke up on the side of the bed.
my previous posting wasn't meant as a flame, but a simple question.
As a matter of fact, I could tell you the wiring colors for a chevy, ford, toyota, honda. Generally, manufactures do not change the wiring colors on their cars. As far I as I can remember, for the past 10 years (probably even early than that), every Honda that I had worked on had black/yellow for ignition, solid white for power from ignition harness, and blue and white for starter.
As far as probing any airbags, that would be pretty difficult, as in most cars (this includes other cars than Honda), the air bag wires are clearly labeled, and in several cases, the manufacturer covers the airbag wires with a bright yellow sheath that says "caution: airbag control wires, do not cut, probe, etc...". Only a true idiot or true beginner would not be able to notice what it is going on.
From your previous reply, it would seem that you haven't spent much time under the dash of your car. Maybe you should try taking a look under your dash, then compare to another honda, and then compare to another honda. I hope you would begin to notice how similiar the cars are (in regards to wiring at least) and how simple the wiring is and that all the excitement you are generating about this topic is not as exciting as you may think.
And not too keep arguing about this, but CC should have manufacturer wiring diagrams for reference to use by their installers. Most good installation shops have this information available.
But, do not get me wrong, I am not saying that I never used any wiring diagrams before, they do make the job easier if you have never worked on a particular car before, but my point is that Hondas are probably the most common car that we run into in the installation bay (probably more than 10 a week) and none of my experienced installer friends has ever asked for help on a Honda.

_Most people do wake up on A side of the bed. Guess you could wake up on the front or back. Whatever way you like I guess, but I get your drift man. I was a little irritated by your remark, basically for the fact that you put it there. No reason whatsoever basically. I dunno maybe you wanted your name on the board. Maybe it got your jollies going! I dunno. More power to ya.
I will always be confirming no matter what. Check or no check. You will always win staying on the safe side.
Again Thanks Bobby for the info

it appears that all you could come up with is some wannabe sarcasm to mask your ignorance about automotive electronics.
It's okay, we were all beginners at one time. Some of us stay beginner longer than others. Some will stay a beginner forever.
I might suggest that you stick to just putting gas in your car. That way you don't have that fear at the back of your mind of setting off your airbag.
