Default Aftermarket Head Unit

I know there's a part out there that's lets you install your aftermarket head unit and still use the dashboard stereo controls- something to do with the IR signal from the Head Unit Remote. Anybody know where I can find this part?

There are 4 options that I know of that are currently being made

1) Qube's Audio Control. Click my sig for info.

2) The one mentioned in the previous post

3) PAC SWI-X

4) Alpine European Headunit with special adapter.

I just ordered Lucid's DCI. After asking around, the concensus was that was the best piece for aftermarket HUs. Go to www.lucid.com to pick it up.

I would recommend Qubes audio control. I got it and its great! Its worth the money.

You can't even tell its not stock!

Digging up this thread because I installed a Kenwood MP819 last night. I previously had the Lucid 3-ways in the rear panels with the stock (02) head unit. What a difference! Way more punch - and clean sound - even with the stock front speakers.

It came with the DJQube controller - I just haven't had time to pop it in yet. It sounds like it'll be well worth the effort.

See my website for a write-up on the PAC unit. If I had the options available at the time, I would have gone with either Lucid's DCI (by modifry) or DJ Qube's solution.

There is another option (sort-of.) I went for a Sony HU, and Lucid also has a WIRED controller for the Sony unit. You have to get a Sony HU that supports the option Sony wired remote. I am still working on my setup, but I did get the HU installed. The wiring was VERY easy and it adds speed sensitive volume control.

I am fairly happy now, but hopefully I will be even happier when I manage to get my front speakers and my amp installed.
