Aftermarket Head Unit
Im in the process of purchasing the Alpine 9831 Head unit. However, i find on the forums that people dont get to use their audio control (left side of steering wheel). I know its possible, but with alot of work. Do others just not use their left side audio controls, or do they wire it up? How should i do this?
Also, anyone in the bayarea know any good shops?

OK im a newb at all this stereo type of thing. Also i dont mind paying some professional shop to do this either and i think that is the way i will be going. Should i just purchase the Alpine 9831 and buy the IR DCI and give them it? If so, is that all i need to do cause they should know the rest?
Sorry for the newb questions. I dont know anything about stereo and all. I just hate the stock unit cause its so ugly to me and no power. Plus i need a deck to start off my sound system.
Help!! Thanks

I would build it in this order.
Headunit
DCI
Front Speaker
Amp
Then if you want more bass. Add another amp and sub or when you buy the first amp buy a good four channel and use two of the channels to drive the sub.

DJ Qube's Dash controls turn the dash's "push button" into a joystick, making it much easier to navigate songs/tracks. They cost more but are SO worth it.

Can i bring in the head unit and the IR DCI to a shop at one time and get them to install it at once? Would that let me be able to use the left side audio controls on the left hand side of the steering wheel? i dont want to go to the shop numerous times thats why.

I don't see why not. Since the DCI and its optional harness all reside in the area behind the head unit, it's a no brainer to have it done at once. Any competent shop should have no trouble figuring out how to install the DCI
