Default Aftermarket head unit swap....

Hi everyone. I have an aftermarket head unit in my 2007 currently. It's old, so I bought a new one with some modern creature comforts. Is the unit that's in there now able to be removed without taking the console off? From what I read in another thread, AP2s require console removal but that was for removing a stock head unit.

Thanks in advance!

If you bought the same brand headunit you may be able to simply swap them and use the existing cage (metal part that holds headunit in place in the dash/opening) for the new unit.

The s2000 doesn't use cages with aftermarket stereos. It uses a set of brackets from the side of the stock unit that you screw onto the aftermarket unit.

OP, with the AP2 you generally need to remove the console. It's super easy and takes 30 seconds top. Some claim they can get the trim surround out without removing the console but I don't really see how that's possible. I swapped an alpine into my Ap2 last night.

D'oh, that's what I get for not messing with my radio in so long.
