Default Alarm recommendations

i want the one with the remote that tells you what is wrong with the car, like if the bumper is hit or door is hit... or motion sensor has been set off, oh, and something with good range that been known to work

WILL THE AUTO START ON THE ALARM SYSTEM MESS UP THE CAR AT ALL....i heard rumors that it will mess up a car with manual transmission?...

Compustar has a legal alarm that will let you autostart - you get out of the car while its running, then arm the alarm, which shuts the car off and locks the doos to guarentee the car is not in gear when you go to autostart it later.

Alarms are all basically DEI, but a number of people here have Compustar. I vote for the Compustar b/c they are less well known - search the electronics FAQ and threads for info.

I had a viper unit installed in my civic ek and had autostart and my power folding mirrors hooked up. Everything worked fine till 1 fine day I was in my garage working out and heard a crashing sound in my back yard, I looked and noticed my car ran into a devider. I left my car in gear cuase theres a little slope in my yard, anyway I reached in my pocket and just my luck, I left the keys up stairs. I knew my car was going to try to autostart again so I panicked and called my house and started cursing at who ever hit the autostart and told them to turn it off. Before they could turn it off, the car jerked to start again and this time it ran over the devider and stoped near the fence. The result of leaving my car in gear..

1) destroyed jdm mugen lip $350

2) damaged front bumper $200 repair/repaint

3) suspension felt funny afterwards

4) I got yelled at for hitting the devider :0(

Im thinking of installing a compustar in my S now. I probably will hook up the autostart but this time i'll be extra careful. I'll probably also use a realy ot 2 to make the roof open and close on my remote with the push of a button.

That is exactly why I will not ever install a remote start on a manual tranny car. Sure it can be done safely - but someone will always find a way to pooch it.

I have a Clifford Matrix 10.5. It does exactly what you are thinking of, and has a few extra channels to add features down the line (I'm also considering the top up/down mod).
