Since your in 718 (I am assuming Queens) PM Taku_Yoshida. He has a guy out on long island that has GREAT PRICES. Also you can go with Jose (NFRS2K83). He is the trusted Metro s2ki electronics guy. He just did my alarm not to long ago and knows his stuff. I didn't go with Eric's guy because I had totaly forgot and probably would have saved some money. PM them both and see who gives you a good deal.

Anything from Directed Electronics is going to be a pretty solid unit.

Don't skip the proximity sensor and tilt sensors. Alarms only come with shock sensors right outta the box. All this is good for is detecting when someone hits your car, kicks it, or breaks a window. Even window breakage won't trigger the shock sensor in some cases.
Personally have a compustar 2w900fm. It does the job and it was signifcantly cheaper than the viper.

Proximity sensors are great in theory but the one I had installed was a giant pain. It kept sending false alarms so I ended up taking it out.

Although I do hear great things about the DEI 508D proximity sensor. Supposed to cut down on those false alarms significantly.

Wouldnt the shock sensor be triggered by someone trying to tow your car? Also I always leave my tires turned all the way in one direction to make towing a little more inconvenient
I did forget to mention towing. On prox/radar sensors, I usually set the interior zone pretty sensitive, and the outside pretty low. This cuts WAY down on false alarms.

Exactly. I had a prox (aka radar) sensor on one of my old Civics. The only "false" alarms I ever got was from my stepmoms cat walking on my windshield or sunroof. I've seen shock sensors adjusted so sensitive that shutting a car door next to the alarmed vehicle will set it off.

^^ adjusting that sensitive is stupid lol some people do it on purpose. What a lot of people don't know is that alarms come with neusance control and they go silent after being set off a number of times and the only way to reset them is to go out and turn the key in the ignition. Some thieves go around and will test your alarm a few times and once it goes into a silence they go to work freely and your car is gone. Thieves also love rainy/windy nights when you think it's the weather setting it off. Never sleep on thieves.

Please note an alarm is only as good as installer that installed.. some installers lazy and dont give a #@%$.. DEI directed back up battery SUCKS, they are other aftermarket batteries on the market.. Hmm oh and stay away from remote starters. as u might as well hand the keys over to a crook.. Just my two pennies..

Nothing is wrong with remote starters as long as u don't leave your car in gear. As far as which company to go with I'd go with Viper. Mostly because places like to charge more for the Clifford name and they are the same with the exception of the remotes. Call Jose and let me know when you're gonna go. I want him to install something for me.

They are both made by DEI , hint the same brain same unit... only thing that is different are the looks of the remotes...

so pick which ever looks best.

I personally like and uses the 5901 which is replaced by the 5704... its sold cheap on amazon.com... very easy to install, and have crazy range compared to the cheaper models...

I also got the DEI 520T backup battery and DEI 508D Proxy Sensor.

Well thank you sir for sharing that. Because you just informed thousands of people whom of which could be thieves. I hate these threads because so many don't realize you're actually helping them by providing ways to stop them and so they know what to look for.
