Default Alarm worth buying?

How good is the stock security system on the s2000? I'm debating whether or not to buy a clifford alarm for my car. I know that I can't stop vandalism from happening to my car. I garage my car but when I go to the movies or restaurants I get worried about my car because it doesnt have an alarm. So I'm wondering if the stock security system is sufficient enough?

The stock alarm has a glass breakage (noise) sensor, but other than that, only goes off if the doors are opened. There's an optional hood switch that will set it off if you hood is opened.

Aftermarket can offer proximity sensors, additional outputs, and a real siren (instead of the horn).

Personally, I went with the stock alarm, for ease of install. No splicing of wires, no problems. Hopefully it's enough to deter the petty stereo thiefs from getting away with anything. It was only about $260 through H and A Accessories (a site sponsor) and can be installed fairly easily by yourself.

If somebody really wants to steal the car, no alarm is going to stop them. For that reason, I had LoJack installed at the dealership just in case.

Does the S2000 have a security alarm already installed into it or is the security system an option?

The car has an ignition security system. The key has a chip that the ignition needs to read to start.

The optional OEM alarm added protection to the doors, etc...

Other alarms like the Clifford, Viper and Alpines will add things like Proximity sensors, paging and the flexibility to override different sensors.

Oem alarms are like OEM stereos. You tend to get better performance for less money for aftermarket systems.
I just had an Alpine 150R with proximity sensor installed in my S. So far so good.

its for the people who are going to jack it... its for the people who want to hurt it...

ex: couple months ago I got my tires slashed three months ago I got my antenna jacked twice...now I have no antenna...
