Great thread!
My gf just bought me a Garmin NUVI so i'm going to do this mod. Going to put it in the same spot my IPOD is now, just move the IPOD to under the dash out of sight. Not like I need to see the screen anyway

I took the build a power plug approach to hard wiring my Nav. unit......

I got a power outlet /USB plug, a 6 foot usb Male / female USB cord, and a 1 foot USB A/ mini B (5pin).

This has worked well.

I ordered all cables (2 sets since I was planing on doing the same in my other car0 for about $12 from monoprice.com.
