I have bought a pair for my Stook that'll arrive sometime in July. I bought them for a few reasons, sound, fit, cost, same manufacturer as head unit. I heard them in a Sound Advice store & liked them. If anyone has them installed only being supported by the power from the stock head unit, I am looking for comments on top down performance please. Thanks!

Same manufacturer as the cd changer, but the concensus here is that the stock head is a MATSUSHITA (Panasonic.)

Lying Ba$tard$ at Alpine! I was told by two different Alpine reps at a sound competition that head units for Honda products were Alpine. Did sound fishy though when he said made in Indainapolis for a car built in Tochigi. Didn't sound as far fetched for Honda's assembled in Marysville, OH. You just can't trust anyone who's trying to sell you a product!!!

They're Alpine. If you open them up you'll see plenty of Matsushita bits in there, but you'll also see this in Alpine products.

Older Honda stereos actually had Alpine stickers on the top of the stereo.

Thanks for the correction, Aus2000.

Alpine should be embarrassed about the low power. It does give me a touch of hope that the Alpine KCE-865B adapter might work with better Alpine heads.
