alpine 9856 vs 9855

I looked through the features of both and it seems the 9856 has more features and a later model, I would assume would be higher quality. How come then is the 9855 an extra 100? Relatively

The 9855 had Bio lite display and has a 4volt pre-out compared to the white on black 9856 and the 2 volt pre-out.

hmm....thats french to me. but thanks. What does the volt pre-out have to do with stuff?

any other suggestions for headunits in the same relative price range? about 200-300
