Default Alpine 9857 & iPod Playlist Problem

I just installed the Alpine 9857 with the direct iPod. I can't seen to be able to select a particular playlist, the whole iPod songlist is listed and I have to keep pressing next to go to the next song. I've searched and people were posting to turn off the mix mode, which I did, still the same thing. What am I doing wrong?
Any help will be appreciated.

I didn't have enough time today so I just install the Alpine 9857 & iPod.

The following stuffs will go in next weekend.

Infinity Kappa components in the front
Polk Audio db 4" in the rear panels
PPI PCX 440
JL Audio 12w6v2
JL Audio 500/1

I can browse the playlists but I just can't see to select it. The manual said to press the "play/pause" button to select but this doesn't do anything.

Are you trying to choose a playlist or a certain song IN the playlist? If you're browsing a playlist and trying to choose a certain song then you need to click on the little button underneath the knob, not the play/pause button. I don't know why they did it this way as it's confusing and makes no sense, but that's the way it works.

I'm getting this installed today. If you don't have an answer later in the evening, I can fiddle with it and let you know if the same thing happens.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm going to play with it a little more tonight too, if it doesn't work maybe my deck is defective. I keep you all posted.

alpines never had the most intuitive controls.

i wish that we could always "backstep" on the menu from a song currently playing.. rather than being able to do it only in browse mode

i suppose my 9857/pod combo has a problem of its own, too. i can skip between albums (of a single artist.. using the left-side up/down buttons) only about 20% of the time. annoying.

Is your iPod software up to date? I had the same problem. updated the iPod software and the problem disappeared.
