Default Alpine 9857 now availiable on EBay

Sup folks been keeping an eye out for the 9857 to be released and came across an auction last night on ebay. Sellers from Australia though but he has quite a few of them. Check it out!

just because its on eBay does not mean its been released.....there was an auction for a Magnaflow exhaust for the S2000 on ebay about 6-8 months ago, but it had not gone into production yet. The guy was a dealer, and it was in his product catalog.....but was not inproduction yet. I emailed him about it, and he took it down.

Why are people waiting on the 9857 anyways? It lost its main advantage over the 9856 when Alpine reverted back to 2V preamp outs and removed the Bass Engine Tuning ability.....only real difference I can see is the display.

Time correction, bass focus, built-in HPF and LPF.

I am pretty sure you can get a wired DCI from Modifry for just about an 2004+ Alpine model that has IR capability.

well if you had a WIRED DCI then it wouldnt matter if the model was IR capable or not because all controls are directly connected to the head unit via 3.5mm jack

[QUOTE=Will,Mar 22 2006, 12:36 PM] What "tuning ability" do you mean?

The 9857 has an active EQ. You can run a full active system and ditch a passive crossover. For tuning a system, running active gives you flexibility that passive's don't even come close too.
The 9856 has all the tuning capabilities as the 9857. There should be virtually no difference in sound reproduction.

I really want to upgrade to a 9856 or 9857 for the iPod high speed connection. My current HU (9815) has time correction and 4V pro-outs. So upgrading would be a downgrading.

Shame on you Alpine!

Honestly...I challange anyone here to tell me they can hear a difference with 4V vs 2V preouts in an s2000.

This is not a car to be worried about stuff like this. THE ONLY reason to get a 57 over a 56 is the Biolite display. It does nothing else that would be useful in an s2000 IMHO.
