Alpine 9857 now availiable on EBay
You will lose some tuning capability, but as was said above, it quite difficult to tell the difference in the S2000.
Kenny - The long and the short of it is if you use the time correction on your 9853, you will lose that ability if you go with a newer unit (unless you upgrade to a DVD capable HU......I think the first one with time correction is $550).
Dave - On a side note, though, I can definitely tell the difference between my 9851 and the 7995....but there are other factors at work other than the voltage of the pre-outs. I also like the 4V preouts because the amp does not have to work quite as hard.....a little tacky point, I know, but I can definitely hear the difference.

Bare in mind that Crutchfield say they won't have the 9857 until 23rd April and they said last month they would have them by now. The ebay seller from Australia sounds ok but I wonder if you get a warranty. I also wonder about the big markup. Personally I got sick of waiting and got the 9856.
I reminded myself that I am in a noisy convertible .........

will they have like manuals online??...or...show how to tune things like that..
http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/support/
Just click on the Owners Manuals link on the left side and then click "continue without login"
The last part (where you click Continue Without Login) appears to be broken at the moment but it normally works fine.
