Thumbs up Alpine Amp, Sub, System

How you doing, i have run in to some trouble with my system this is what i have:

AMP: ALPINE MRV-F345 1/2 CH TO FRONT COMPONETS, 3/4ch BRIDGE TO SUB

SUB: ALPINE SWR-1042D In Custom toolwell enclosure, right now set up in to 2 ohms.

PROBLEM: amp is cliping?! Volume goes up- amp shuts down. WHY? could it be because its in 2 ohms? or its the amp just too small for the sub?? (very worried)

Amp bridge outs 300w X 1
SUB is 500WRMS 1500W max

i only seem to have the 2 or 8 ohms option on the sub? anybody have any idea what should i do? what would be the best conection... thanks so much in advance

P.S. this is my second sub with this same amp/setup previous was smaller 10" jlaudio (which was blown after a while)

If I'm not mistaken....that amp is not 2ohm stable when bridged.

That is probably why you are getting shut down....Why not just try using one voice coil instead of both.

I thought you should always use both voice coils, on a DVC sub. You may just have to wire your sub for 8 ohms or get a SVC 4 ohm sub.

I agree, I have this amp running my door speakers and ended up getting an Alpine mono amp for the sub for this reason.

Yeah that amp isn't stable at 2 ohms when bridged. Either run it off of a single channel at 2 ohms or run it bridges at 8 ohms.

I thought of this two options, but not sure wich would be better?? bridge into 8 ohms or one chanel into 2 ohms (each VC to one chanel)?? anybody could give me and advice on which two ways would be best?

I'm pretty sure that if you run one channel to each vc, each channel would be running at 4 ohms, not two. That would only give you 75w x 2 (150w total) going to your sub. would it be possible to bridge the amp and connect it to one voice coil?

I've always run my gear at 4 ohms; I have this very same amp and I have it bridged in the rear going to a svc 4 ohm sub.

Give Alpine a call at (1-800-257-4631) Tech support.

I'm going with the same setup except that I'm using a SWS-1022 2ohm/2ohm.

If I'm not mistaken the MRV F345 and I called Alpine myself, this amp is stable at 4 ohms when bridged.

Alpine should be able to instruct you on how to set your wiring up for your Subwoofer using the MRV F345. Let us know the outcome.

That amp is only stable at 4ohm's bridged, so you your only viable option without purchasing additional equipment is to run each rear channel to a separate voice coil...4ohms each, and not bridge it. BTW - make sure you set the amp to a mono input on the rear channels so your not sending different signals to each coil.

- Or you get a new sub, either a SVC 4ohm or a DVC sub with dual 2 ohm coils.

- Or get an amp cable of running at 2ohms.
