Alpine Blackbird
^ I was thinking that but I noticed that many of its functional buttons and what not are not on the front. The power button for example is on top. The power docking is on the bottom. Speaker and antenna in the back etc. Wouldn't that make for a difficult installation into the visor?

Guess we'll have to stay tuned....
The Blackbird runs on 5V/2A. Looks like you could take the AC charger and cut the AC part off and use it to do a hardwire kit. You would just need to either find a 5V/2A output or find a way to convert the 12V to 5V.

Well I took it out for a short trip around the block just to see how it works. I've found the first problem with the unit. With the top down and the stereo on you will have difficulty hearing the unit. The good news is you will hear a ding to let you know that you need to make a turn so look at the screen to see which way to go. The good news is I tried the FM modulation and it works great, but you can't hear your CD. I will have to get a SD memory card to load some music on it to see how the MP3 player and Nav work with the FM modulation.
The screen works well and is easy to see although the bright sun was not out so I will have to give it a try on a sunny day.

I think I will look for a goose neck to mount it on the passengers side by the pocket on the left side, and run a 12v source to plug in the lighter adapter that comes with the kit. This way there will be no wires exposed.
Stay tuned for more updates as I experiment.
