^ I was thinking that but I noticed that many of its functional buttons and what not are not on the front. The power button for example is on top. The power docking is on the bottom. Speaker and antenna in the back etc. Wouldn't that make for a difficult installation into the visor?

I need more info on it in regards to power, so I can plan my installation. I would like to hardwire the unit, so I want it to turn on when the car is on ACC or started. I dont want to have to turn it on everytime I get in the car, that would be a PITA. I would also love an autoshutdown feature. The "mount" they have for it is $200, so we're gonna need an extended review of it. Like I said, *ideally* I would like it to go in my visor (its always up due to my V1 positioning), but if I have to find another spot, then so be it. I was going to mold a screen into my dash, and get a standalone navi unit, but this is more to my liking (more for less)......

Guess we'll have to stay tuned....

The Blackbird runs on 5V/2A. Looks like you could take the AC charger and cut the AC part off and use it to do a hardwire kit. You would just need to either find a 5V/2A output or find a way to convert the 12V to 5V.

Check Radio Shack...they have 12V to 3V, 5V, 6V, 7.5V, 9V and Multi adapters. Simple to hardwire in...

Well I took it out for a short trip around the block just to see how it works. I've found the first problem with the unit. With the top down and the stereo on you will have difficulty hearing the unit. The good news is you will hear a ding to let you know that you need to make a turn so look at the screen to see which way to go. The good news is I tried the FM modulation and it works great, but you can't hear your CD. I will have to get a SD memory card to load some music on it to see how the MP3 player and Nav work with the FM modulation.

The screen works well and is easy to see although the bright sun was not out so I will have to give it a try on a sunny day.

I think I will look for a goose neck to mount it on the passengers side by the pocket on the left side, and run a 12v source to plug in the lighter adapter that comes with the kit. This way there will be no wires exposed.

Stay tuned for more updates as I experiment.
