Alpine CD Changer vs OEM CD Changer
I bought my car with the OEM head unit and stacker. I just recently change it to an Alpine CDA 7878R. This plays MP3 and is great, but....my stacker is collecting dusk in the boot as it wont connect to the new head. Does any one have solution to this????
I think the problem lies in that the M-Bus system is pretty much dead. All the new head units use AI-Net..which as far as I have been able to tell, in no way what so ever compatible with the older M-Bus changers.
the mbus system is NOT dead, as evidenced by our ongoing stock supply and the fact that they still have two or three mbus head units for sale - alpine wants to be there for the aftermarket, and ai-net (at least for now) does not work with OEM head units. anything with an M in the model will work (just about) and anything with an A will not.
Here is what I'm wondering...
You can buy an adaptor from Alpine to adapt an Ai-Net changer to an M-bus headunit. Now... If we took this adaptor plugged it into the adaptor for the M-bus changer for Honda OEM radios, would it work?
I would love to get the Alpine Mp3 6-disc if it would. I'm sure you couldnt have folders, but...

i was wondering the same thing. since that changer (the CHA-S634) works with mbus heads (via the mbus/ai switch on it) it stands to reason that it would work with the s2k stock head unit as long as you have both adapters (the one for honda -> mbus and the mbus -> ai-net cable).
i'm going to pick one up today and hopefully shoehorn it under the drivers seat. i'll let you guys know.
