Nice to see you here, Schwett.

Do post back- I'm looking for an MP3 changer to mate with the stock head unit... it would be nice to leave the stocker in.

installing it right now.... the kca-120b is backordered just about everywhere, but i found shop locally that had it, and was more than happy to rape me to the tune of $20 for a $10 part.

What's that? The adapter for Alpine->Honda?

Did you consider the PhatBox or something similar?

i looked at the phatbox a while ago, but now that there are changers out which just read mp3 cd-roms it doesn't make much sense.

you need two adapters : one is usually termed an interface, goes from the molex connector on the headunit to the round MBus connector. since the changer is AI-Net, you also need an AI-Net -> Mbus adapter cable, which is an alpine part and inexpensive. the interface is 3rd party, costs more.

HOWEVER at this point mine isn't working. according to blitz and alpine, it SHOULD work and has been done before, but i'm not getting anything. i'll try another changer monday and see if i can't narrow it down a bit.

I used the alpine changer and the adaptor. It works great. However I didn't want to give up and trunk space for the changer since I already gave up some room for the JL Stealth box. I mounted the changer in the hidden compartment. here are some pics. I will say that this is not an easy install, but the results were worth time time and effort it took

S2KSuzuka,

was there any cutting involved in mounting the changer in the hidden compartment?

yes, the plastic had to be cut and heated to take the proper shape. The changer is a bit to wide for the hole.

update, it doesn't work, tried two. according to blitz, they've done it, but i think they are.... mistaken.

i tried an older changer, and of course it works fine. so it looks like the mbus implementation of the 634 is not quite like the older ones. o well.....

The adapter is aftermarket, aand can be purchased where you buy the changer. Just remember M-Bus NOT AI-Net,
The random feature still works

I have a 4 year old Alpine S600 changer. I'm assuming this will work with the '02 stock radio? Is the car prewired for the changer in the trunk?

I just happened to sell a Jaguar XJ6 that I had installed an Alpine CHM-S601 unit in. I took out the unit before I sold it, thinking I would sell on ebay. It sounds like I can use this changer in 2002 S2K. Where do I get the adapter? Website? Is the head unit precabled? Where does the cable come out in the trunk?
