Default Alpine CDA-7894/7995 Pac eye Install location??

Ok, I know several board member have this installed. Where is the Pac eye located, and how well does it work.

The ideal place is on the top corner away and try to aim at the face. Avoid the bottom because I've noticed sunlight can interfer with the signal. On my personal set up you cannot see the eye looking at it from the driver's view or the passenger's view. Response is very good. see my guide page for an example, the mp919 there is mine.

Just so you know, with my mod, you will still need to wire the eye of the original remote control the same way you do for the PAC. I also encounter the "direct sunlight" phenomenon, but I'm trying to find a solution. I think the sun hitting the receiver is the problem, not the sun hitting the "eye". I have an idea that I am testing tomorrow that may possible solve this. (Don't worry, if it works, it won't cost ANYTHING! )

BTW, I voted for my mod...

I have found that the eye will work perfectly (7892) taped to the top of the unit and pointing to the remote control sensor from the back. There was no need to bring it into the cabin and try to point it up or down depending on the case.

I do if the lid is open, but if the lid is open I just use the HU controls. They work better anyway.

There is no sun interference because it is an inch and a half behind the front panel of the radio.

Yes I saw your pics. I was wondering how well it worked. It sound like it the Cover is opened, top down and sunny then you have an issue? Also since the Eye is right next to the "mp3" logo, I wondered how well it was woring for you. Thanks

JPit

That was where I was thinking about putting it. I was hoping someone had put it there. So you have no Issues? Did you installit, and have it installed? I was wondering about the clearance behind the cover for the LED wire and mounting when installed this way.

Thanks

I installed it myself. There is plenty of room on top - just tape it down. It hasn't failed to work yet.
