There is no sun interference because it is an inch and a half behind the front panel of the radio.

I installed mine over the weekend. I put it on the top of the bezel, just to the right of the knob. You are right, since the IR sender is about 1" away from the IR reciver. It works in direct sun light

This is a copy of e-mails between me and a UK rep who has been very helpful, but I am getting more confused.....
I mentioned I was trying to get a Alpine unit, 7894 and not have to use the pac swi-x for the reasons I have read on the S2000 board, delayed response, etc.
It was suggested I get a European model and a KCE-865b adapter. I was told the European models have the connector on the back of the hu so you that can plug right in and that the adapter was made to specially work with the s2000.
I just wanted confirmation on the adapter and HU combination but he seems to be suggesting something different. Also do I really need the second adapter, and if so, is this solution a better "new and improved" solution? It sounds like I can use a U.S. Alpine unit and TWO different adapters and it will work like the European/Japanese version without giving up FM and or AM.
I do not know the answers to this guys last question or if he is suggesting something not yet thought of on the s2000 Alpine HU replacement. I have copied his messages and mine from where he suggested this.
He asks....... is there any major reason why you should want a European specification unit instead of the CDA-7894 (US) model ? ? ? ? ?

Thank you for your informative replies. The reason I want a European model is because European and Japanese Alpine units are the only Alpine units with a connector in the back for the KCE865b. I don't know why this is but for a U.S. owner to use an Alpine and keep the dash controls behind the steering wheel, our only other alternative is a pac switch remote which puts a noticeable delay in response time.
Many of us wish the U.S. model had a connector for this KCE865b adapter....but as yet they do not. Perhaps this will change in the future, we hope!

Sorry to be a pain but there may be another solution which will favour you I think ...... we did an interface lead, KWE-841E which is a Infrared transmitter interface for KCE-840B, KCE-869B and KCE-870B to allow use with any Alpine head unit that has Infrared remote control compatible. Our stock levels in the UK have dried up but if you were able to source one from elsewhere then you could use it in conjunction with the KCE-865E. That way as long as you buy a US model with remote control capability you can still utilise the stalk controls from the vehicle.
Just an idea ;-), I am currently awaiting to hear what Europe have in stock ...... I'll let you know.

Hi Dennis, this is getting into a right game of e-mail tennis, LOL ;-) OK here goes. The SWI-3 PAC seems to do basically the same job, so in some ways they are the same. You will need the KWE-841E and the KCE-865E interface for the Honda. The 865E connects to the vehicles 20-Way connector at the head unit, then the normal 3.5mm jack connector that normally would connect to the European head unit connects to the 841E (see picture).

As far as the delay is concerned I was wondering if the delay exists on all vehicle types when using the SWI-3 PAC ? ? I have spoken to a colleague who had the 841E installed and he said that there was absolutely no delay in the operation of the interface using the 841E and that the controls were instant.
BTW...The picture wont open.... and I don't know what to answer. Can you figure out the solution and see if this is something new and improved or just confusion.
Thanks.

Mr. Jetpuke,
The PAC SWI-X (PAC SWI-3 was a previous version) controller is not the only way to go for an infrared solution. There are two products on the market right now that work without a delay and allow you to use extended functions, like rewind, folder up, folder down, etc. I modified the stock controls to work in a way that made more sense to me. Click my sig if you're interested.
