Alpine external monitor question
OK time to ask the guru's about this.
My plan/desire is to outfit a DVD/ipod video playback through a 'recent' alpine head unit. While I may end up cutting the dash for a monitor I don't want to do a retrofit for a dual din setup. So given my single din only options, I'm thinking about getting an alpine DVD headunit + monitor.
Now price isn't a major concern, but the only DVD headunit currently listed is the sliding headunit which the sliding bit is useless since it won't clear the dash when it comes out. I assume attaching the monitor to the manitor cable of the HU I should get all of the functionality of built in screen? Any other alpine HU's that I should consider?
Also for monitor choices I appear to only have the choices of the 740 7inch or the 770 for the 6.5inch. Even then those are not widely available. Are there other options for a touch screen monitor. Additionally if I went the 7inch would that fit the JDM honda dash adapter if I choose to cut? The Hoth's solution was nice and I may try something similar.
Thanks.

here's what I would do...
Look into the VHUB, (since money is no object) and use that to control just the screen. Put a DVD player under a seat, or fiberglassed into the center glove box. Then run the audio from the Vhub into the AUX of any alpine radio.
In otherwords, you've gotta make up your mind if you want to retro a double din or not cause alpine doens't make a stand alone DVD player anymore, unless you're baller enough to get F-Status DVD player for $2500
