Default Alpine Head Unit

Can anyone give suggestions on which Alpine models have the Steering Wheel interface to work with the Alpine Control for the Dash Controls, the one being sold at Lucid Automotive.??? Any info would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

From what I understand, the only Alpines that work with the steering wheel interface (purchased separately) come from Europe. There are some functionality disadvantages to the fact that the head unit is spec'ed for the European market, but many people who have gone this direction have posted positive feedback on them.

I suggest you go with a domestic Alpine head unit without the "Fantom-Face" technology, since it causes the face of the head unit to hit the s2000 radio door. After you pick your head unit, there are several options for you that will allow you to keep your existing audio control functionality or add to it.

The available choices that I am aware of are....

1) The PAC SWI-X module, available through several people, including Lucid, a major contributor and sponsor of the board. (http://www.lucidautomotive.com/radio/ )

2) Qube's Audio Control! (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthre...=audio control ).

I manufacture the Qube's Audio Control, so I would obviously recommend it to you, but do some searches and read up on the different solutions to find out which one is right for you.

And (rumor has it ) there is another solution by modifry and Lucid that is on the horizon, which you can read about here (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=87330 ). Follow the thread for progress on their project.

DJ - thanks for the plug.

We have a working interface for Alpine head units in webgod's car, and pending some minor software tweeking and a little more testing, it should be ready sometime in January. Just watch for a post by lucid sometime after the new year.

It will have the same 8 functions as the existing Sony interface lucid is selling now, as well as optional speed-controlled volume.

PDS...

Go download the PDF file installation manual and it shows the jack on the back for the remote interface. I have not SEEN it in person, but the US installation manuals are usually right.
