^^ Yea, i think you can add a CD changer?

Also...I have 001, does anyone have issues with communication to the Ipod? I have the touch and sometimes it freezes up and i have to do weird things to get it back. Sometimes I can just advnace the song, other times i have to switch back and forth between radio/ipod to get it to play.

Other times, it just will not sync up and i have to unplug/replug it a few times. That usually happens right after i sync it with itunes. (Its jailbroken)

yes you can add a cd changer via the Alpine AI-Net ports

here is an example of a cd changer that will work with the deck

Alpine CHA-S634

wow ..i didnt think a cd changer would be 240$ now days..
i thought cd technology would be old enough to sell at cheap prices

but i think ill get the head unit...then some componant speakers..then from there work up to an amp and sub...cd changer can wait a bit since i have my ipod...
also i went to crutch feild and looked at all the add ons that i guess i could use and came to like 800$

does anyone know if the whole "IMPRINT audio processor" thing is worth it???
and would it be a good idea to maybe stick to one brand for the whole set up?

i have the x100 and i can tell you the imprint thing is worth it imo.

i got it fairly cheap ( a bit lower than retail) and i think it gives you better sound.

I have not yet even used my mic to tune it.
The main thing i like about it is that it opens up a bunch of menus with tons of tuning options.
the crossovers and eq's are very nice and higely tunable.

also, i have the bluetooth module which i like as well.
it may not have the best reception, expecially when top down haha, but you would be amazed how bad you will want one if you hav it for a month then dont have it anymore.

its great not having to use you phone at all because it pulls up the phonebook, caller id, missed calls and so on on the headunit display.

2 great boxes imo... just a little tough to fit all teh new accessories behind the radio. its possible though.

rip the cd's you want to play to mp3's and put them on a USB drive. it will save a ton of digital and physical space. USB drives are pretty cheap now - i recently got the crucial 16gb for $27 or so. it will hold quite a few cd's. thousands even.

thats a good idea..although its not that efficiant for me sometimes
cds are just easier to use for me
when i have everything digital i seems to get a bit more unorganized
keep in mind i do, do some djing
so i know all about that

but sometimes i just find cd's more organized and its always nice to have the option to use cd's

would the cd changer fit in the "secret compartment"???
i dont have an s2k yet
so right now everything i order will be in my bmw

Hi all, I'm looking at buying one of the 2 Alpine units, either the IDAX001 or it's successor IDAX100. They seem to suit me (ipod/radio for me, usb drive for the kids), & i love the look, i'm an artwork sucker!

The guy i spoke to said that the original version (IDAX001) was actually better than it's successor. His only real reason he could give me was the fact that the jogwheel on the 001 was progressive; the more you turn it the faster the search. He said that the new model 100 had a jogwheel that would only scroll at one speed, resulting in long frustrating waits to scroll thru a large collection.

Seems like a few people here are able to compare these 2 units? Any other improvements on the X100. I've gotta make a quick decision on these so would appreciate any help.
