Alpine Nve-n852a Dvd Navigation !?!?!?!
I want to buy ALPINE NVE-N852A DVD NAVIGATION SYSTEM on ebay for 1,400 including tax and shipping. The item is brand new. What do you guys think about this GPS system? I've heard that they are one of the best out there. Anyone has any experience with it? TXS
Alpine's system WAS the best when it came on the market (full disclosure, yes I own it). I believe other manufactures are catching up (Pioneer)
Whichever system you end up with a few things to look for.
DVD based...some systems are still CD based and the database is limited (Alpine's has now grown to 2 DVDs)
A built in speed sensor and Gyro Sensor (this allows you to still navigate when line of sight can not be achieved, i.e. cities, tree lined streets, tunnels, etc.)
Flash ROM upgradeable (allow you to update the system via a DVD update)
# of channels, the more channels the better chances of receiving signal in inclement weather, etc.
Good Luck

First, think about where you are putting the monitor.....you cant get the IVA in dash screens and youll have to cut up your dash to get the regular screens molded in.
