Default Alpine Type R Components

My setup:
Alpine 9857 HU
Alpine Type R Components with Alpine 2 Channel Amp
JL Audio 10" Sub on Alpine Mono Amp
1.5 Farad Cap

Am I the only one not satisfied with my Alpine Type-R components? They're supposed to be one of Alpines best set of speakers aren't they?
My issue is that they don't seem to get loud enough without popping.

Why won't they get louder?
The amp is a perfect match for the components. Gains set to neutral position.
Could my battery be too weak? I'm running a cap.
Also running 8 gauge wiring... Is this to small?

I don't understand why they're so weak......

Suggestions welcome.............

I have those speakers and they are way way way better than stock, Check your wiring to make sure a wire isn't crimped. My speakers would sometimes go out or pop when i 1st wired them but i didn't put electrical tape around all the wires. So when the wire touch the door it caused some interference

Honestly?

Invest in something of a higher quality...

But, that's just my $0.02.

I'm feeding 150 watts on each channel of spr 17s.
There is no way I can turn the volum more than 3/4 because it gets way too loud.

sounds like your not tuned right, sounds like your pushing to much bass through the type r's. I suggesting adjusting your hpf on the amp.
Also check polarity and make sure one speaker isn't out of phase.

I agree! My brother has them in his accord and I'm not impressed.

$200 for Diamond Hex S600s on Ebay. They will outplay those SPR-17's both in terms of volume and SQ.

Yep, there are a lot more for the money out there nowadays. Focals are nice but man too much where you can get similar results for less.
