you need to turn on the HPF. 80hz The door speakers should not have too much bass coming through them. Thats why you have a subwoofer.

Both you headunit and your 2ch amp should have HPF setting.

also. I hope your not running 8 gauge wire from the battery.

You should have at least 4g running from the battery to the trunk where it may split into two 8g wires or better yet two 4g wires.

It sounds like your tuning is way off. The type R's are very good speakers, and sure as sh!t plenty good for an s2000.

turn the HPF on on the amplifer, set it to 100hz and up, that will clean those speakers up, also make sure your gains aren't crazy high on the amp. The radio will put out 4v's on the pre-outs so it's good enough voltage. Also see if you can find someone that has the imprint plug-in around you to get it synced. get a subwoofer to take care of your ubass as well, it'll take the bass out of the midrange and stop the "popping"

Looks like everyone chimed in before I did about your tuning. Shouldn't be set to neutral or too much bass will come through your speakers and cause distortion and/or popping.

Components will do very well for mid to high range, but you'll absolutely kill them with sub frequency. I'm shocked they haven't blown yet.

Leave the sub frequency for your sub (that's what it was designed for!) and your music will sound much better.

Might want to adjust the crossover on your amp too, depending on how high it goes. Best of luck!

Edit: Oh, and if you want to get more volts from pre-outs, you should check out Eclipse head units. They push 8v pre-outs. It'll sound better.

while 8v pre-outs are great, the standard is pretty much a 4v input, while alot of lower headunits only do 2 volts it is sometimes bad to put 8v's into an amp. Check the suggested ratings for that though. I know there is plenty of amps out there that will handle 8v's, but there is also alot nice good quality amps that won't handle that kind of input and have a tendency to go into protect mode, or clip like crazy.

That's true; though like you said, if you're able to get the equipment to handle it, it'll work out wonderfully.

The clarity is that much better! Standard 4v sounds decent enough though, if you're not trying to build something huge.
