Alternate Amp Locations
Other than the spare tire space and the trunk well, is anyone on here putting their amp(s) in any other locations?
I am amp shopping right now and would like to do an install that retains the spare and leaves the trunk well stock.
I am looking at the space to the left of the spare tire as a potential, and under the drivers seat. Anyone?
Also, what do you guys think of the MB Quart RAA4200 for my surrounds?

Many others have done the same.
There is also space to the left of the spare (between the spare and the fuel tank), but not much space.
One S2Ki member (Modifry) has placed an amp in the passenger footwell under the carpet (along with a 10" subwoofer) with minimal loss of legroom (between 1 and 3 inches.)
Small amps may fit under the driver seat if you do not have the OEM security system (which is bolted to the bottom of the driver's seat.)
Tiny amps (Blaupunkt used to make one...) might fit under the passenger seat, but they have to be short and narrow because of the indentation from the underfloor exhaust line.
If you want to take heroic measures, you may be able to fit something behind the driver's rollbar area, in front of the fuel tank. That space is accessible by removing the back convertible-top tray, side panel, and possibly the top and frame itself. In other words it is quite inaccessible, but it is a space, and it is available, and, well, you asked...
Good luck!

Very few new sports cars have working systems for spares (and more and more are switching to 0-pressure tires). Carry Fix-A-Flat and a cell phone and knock on wood like the rest of us.

Quick disconnects... It a real emergency the sub box can sit on the front seat. (or the passengers lap)
