Default Amp Overheating?

Hey guys, I just installed a 12' kicker sub. I've noticed that my amp gets really hot after awhile and my sub stops playing after awhile. Plays and stops.

I am using 8 gauge wiring. I only have my sub wired in.

Could it be a bad ground?

Does your amp have any room around? Circulating air?

I don't think a bad ground would lead to overheating, it would lead more to the amp cutting out/not coming on.

if your ohm load is too low, the amp will have to work much harder which creates more heat, which leads to the amp shutting itself down for protection.

like ^^ above post said, whats the spec's on the sub and amp?

I also used a 2 channel 600 watt amp and it was doing the same thing.

Is your sub a 2ohm or 4ohm?
If 2ohm, is your amp 2ohm stable?
Are you bridging 2 channels to power the amp?
