Outstanding call Shaner...had the same problem in my 1984 Mazda TurboII. But I am still shaking my head with Pinky over this one?

This question pops up quite frequently, and the answer is no.

The stock head unit has absolutely nothing it doesn't need, and even lacks some things it does (like enough power for a convertible or a clock in the MY2000).

That said, several low end amps, and that includes the Sony 222, will accept high level inputs instead of the line level RCA's.

Another note on this: The MY2001 apparently supports the Honda subwoofer. The easiest way for Honda to implement this would be to supply the wires that would have been rear speakers and feed those to the sub. The sub would have the crossover to remove the higher frequencies and the amp to make enough power to drive the sub. This is all just supposition though. Could have an already filtered RCA for the sub. Anybody know for sure?
