Default Amp problem. Need your inputs.

Hi guys,

Will you tell Nicotunes that it is not wise to spend extra money to fix the problems with Memphis amp I sold him. I am trying to refund his money so that he can buy another amp, Boston Acoustics, but he is reluctant to accept refund and he tries to send it to Memphis to have it fixed.

The problem is, he knows my home and I do not know his address to go to his home to give his money back. If you have time, read this thread and tell him what you think.

Why it is so hard to refund money for something that does not work ?

wow, a case of two TOO NICE guys on the internet. that's unheard of! i've followed that thread and have to commend both of you for the way in which you handle yourselves. is it possible that nicotunes could send the amp in to see what the cost would be and if beyond the price he paid you he could then decline to have it fixed?

Is isn't worth to have it fixed. At the very least, he will have to pay shipping cost both ways, and that is a wasted of money.

What I really like to have this resolved is he will have a better amp for as little extra cost to him as possible. But he is so nice to try the other way so that it would not cost me any money. But I do not care about my cost, my objective is to have him happy with his system.

I am posting in So Cal forum asking for his address so that I can just go to his house to refund his money. Hopefully, someone in So Cal knows where he live.

ain't that the truth!

i'm not sure what i can add here that i haven't already commented on...

in the end though, depending on the cost of the amp, a $100 repair bill might make the effort not worth the money.

are there any local shops that can do repairs? amp repair isn't brain surgery (though it may feel like it). a good repair shop might be able to fix it for a modest price.

OK OK I GIVE UP!!

TR-S2K, I took your advice and purchased the GT22. My concerns are: 1) 75 WRMS is less power than I wanted to feed to the fronts BUT 50 WRMS out of the Memphis still sounded great, so I have to learn to let go of specs and trust my ears. 2) I do not think this will fit under the seat, so behind the seats may be better. It'll be more hidden, but without the expense of cutting out insulation behind the trunk panel.

I will call you tonight!

And thanks for all your kindness

Mike

Nicotunes - Try mounting it up-right behind the driver's seat on the rear wall. Should be some room there, unless you are like over 6'2".

Thanks, John! I am right about 6' so I should be OK...

Behind me is the sub amp and a 5.25" speaker, but there still is the passenger side, under that speaker.......
