Amp recommendation
Nice let me check out the JBL, but there is no info on if could be run at 2 ohms bridged to the rear for the Alpha!
I had the Tarantula for about 4 days, its way too big. That picture of the Tarantula is of an M3 install, you did it right??? I remember that one. Nevertheless thats a beautiful amp and if I had room, I would use it.
If I could find a Van Gogh 500.4 it would be ideal, but I cant find one anywhere.
I had a bad experience with Orion amps in the past, so that is out of the question.
Hey Dave, how come you dont like JL gear? I know you dont like their subs, but whats your opinion of their amps, same as subs? Overpriced and your only paying for the name.

Most 4 channel amps that I have seen have rated power for bridging at 4-ohms, usually not 2-ohms. You can find one, though, but they are not really mass produced. I was looking into a 6-CH amp that I could run 4-channels to the 4 cabin speakers and bridge the rear two for the sub (wanted 400WRMS at 4-ohms to the sub). I decided to go with leaving the rear S-pods running off HU power and amping the front channels. I am looking for lower wattage (90ish) to the fronts. I am probably going to go with the Boston GT-22 or the Memphis 3004 amp for that.
I would check into Boston and Memphis for the cabin amp, as they supposedly push pretty clean wattage. I have heard the Boston, but not the Memphis. Nicotunes has heard both, and apparently they are comparable.
JL makes a 6-ch amp that I think 4 of the channels are able to be bridged together to make 1 huge sub channel. I am not sure about this, and will have to look into it. I think it also puts out close to 125WRMS. I cannot remember the model #, so I will have to look it up and get back with you.
JL does make a good amp (IMHO), but you pay a premium for the JL name.

First of all, before all the JL people call me a "hater"....I dont hate their actual products. They are good quality (except for the POS W7, which is a big POS) amps and speakers....however, the two main reasons I dont buy JL
1)Overpriced
2)The people who work for the company suck. They are all a$$holes and dont want to hear anything from you. They all act like they are too good for your business.
And if you say I can get a good deal on JL (which a lot of times I can)...reason number 2 still stands.
To me, I like a product that can be good quality, and has good people behind it. This one of the reason I love Alphasonik. Besides them making great products IMHO, their customer service is fantastic. They are nice as hell, and will bend over backwards for you.
Good luck buying a JL amp from an unauthorized dealer, having it malfunction, and then have JL admit and fix their manufacturer problem. Companies like soundstream, alphasonik, Phoenix Gold, Audiobahn, have always treated me like I had a brain, and if something was really their fault, they fixed whatever needed to be fixed.
Basically, I dont like JL on pricinple.
I used an Alphasonik PMA5753A 5 channel amp for my setup. It delivers 225/ch. RMS when you bridge 1-2 and 3-4 + 400x1 into 2 ohms for the sub. I'm running CDT EF-61cfi/24's and 1 Pioneer DVC in a WLaurent box. It's a little big but I have it mounted vertically against the back wall of the trunk (it fits inside the tool well barely).
